Olive Twist takes advantage of Facade Grant dollars

AUBURN, Ind. – Auburn Main Street Executive Director Ann Finchum presented the latest Facade Grant check to Lori Burndt owner of Olive Twist Thursday morning.
Burndt applied for a separate Facade Grant to repair the side door of the building at 203 N. Main Street, owned by Jeff and Diane Metcalf. The Metcalfs replaced the front windows of 203 and 209 N. Main Street earlier this year.
The newly replaced side door of the building is utilized by the staff of the Olive Twist.
Since the program's inception Auburn Main Street along with the Auburn Redevelopment Commission have presented 10 check presentations for work on downtown building facades. Total investment in the downtown district to date through the program is $289,360.20, with $86,117 of that coming in 2025.
Finchum informed the Redevelopment Committee on Tuesday of the successes the program in 2025. This has been a record year for inquires and finished projects.
The program is a partnership between the City of Auburn, Auburn Redevelopment Commission and Auburn Main Street. Façade grants allow local business owners to repair and renovate the exterior of those buildings, 50 years and older located within the Economic Revitalization Area.
Business owners are eligible for $15,000 in matching grant monies. A 100-percent reimbursement of actual architectural or engineering costs associated with façade improvements, providing the owner utilizes the technical input in the façade renovation, not to exceed $2,500 is also available.
Since the program’s inception nine grants have been awarded totaling $180,045.02 in investment of private/public dollars within the city ‘s historic downtown district and surrounding area.
