City awarded $1.5 million in CCMG dollars

AUBURN, Ind. – The Auburn Board of Works and Public Safety approved the acceptance of the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) 2025-1 Community Crossings Matching Grant Fund Program dollars for paving projects in 2026.

The City of Auburn was awarded $1.5 million in Community Crossing Matching Grant funds to mill and resurface several streets in 2026. With the grant the city plans to complete an estimated $3 million in street work.

The 2026 projects include:

  • Indian Village Subdivision — Erie Pass, Huron Way, Portage Pass, Seneca Court, Shawnee Court, Cree Court, Tecumseh Court, Cherokee Court, Ontario Lane, Ontario Court and Superior Drive
  • Hidden Creek Subdivision — Trail Road, Wood Hollow Trail, Deer Ridge Crossing and Hidden Creek Drive
  • Greenhurst Court
  • Wesley Road — (Erie Pass to C.R. 35)
  • Gates Cove
  • Matthew Cove
  • North Street — (Indiana Avenue to Main Street)
  • W. Ninth Street — (Van Buren Street to Jackson Street)
  • N. Indiana Avenue — (North Street to City Limits)
  • W. Auburn Drive — (City Limits to Wayne Street)
  • E. Auburn Drive — (Old Brick Road to City Limits)

“Improving and maintaining roads and bridges at all levels is crucial for enhancing quality of life and public safety for Hoosiers,” said Gov. Mike Braun in a release. “Communities across the state need investment in their local infrastructure and we are pleased to partner with them to make necessary improvements.”

The Indiana Department of Transportation awarded more than $200 million in grant dollars with the latest announcement. The grants for local road and bridge projects will benefit 245 cities, towns and counties in the state of Indiana. This set of funding totaled $200,947,809.55.
