Dear Community,

The recent Community Night at the Fort Wayne Komets hockey game this past weekend was truly unbelievable. It was wonderful to have the opportunity to see and visit with so many of you. The Fort Wayne Komets shared that we sold over 400 tickets for the event -- far exceeding our expectations for the first year.

On behalf of the City of Auburn, I would like to express our gratitude to the McKenney Harrison Bulldog Duesy Chords for their performance of the National Anthem, the Boy Scouts for presenting the Flags, and Amber Caccamo and the team from the DeKalb County Visitor's Bureau for their partnership in making this event possible. Thank you to the Fort Wayne Komets, and the Copenhaver and Monosmith families -- along with the many residents and businesses that purchased blocks of seats to represent the community.

Special congratulations to John "Jedd" Copenhaver, who was recognized as our Hometown Hero. Jedd has been a long-time resident, serving our country and community in countless ways over the years. We also recognized Don Monosmith, a long-time volunteer and car enthusiast at the NATMUS Museum, for his unwavering dedication to sharing his time and talents with the museum for many, many years.

One of the highlights of the night for me was performing the ceremonial puck drop with two local youth hockey players -- the noise of the crowd showcased the spirit of our community.

Planning this event was a true team effort, and we are already looking forward to next year's Community Night at the Fort Wayne Komets. It's inspiring to be part of a community that values camaraderie, connection, and supporting one another.

Thank you for making this event such a tremendous success. Together, we are showing what makes Auburn such a special place to live, work and play.

With gratitude,

Dave Clark, Mayor
