67th ACD Festival set for Labor Day weekend

 AUBURN, Indiana – The City of Auburn welcomes car enthusiasts from around the United States to the 67th Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival.

The classics will return to the “Home of the Classics” beginning this weekend to celebrate the Year of the Supercharged Car. The Auburn Automobile Company and Duesenberg, Inc. led the way when it came to supercharging their automobiles.

Duesenberg was first to offer the supercharger option in 1932 in its Model J for an additional $1,000. A supercharged eIMG_0494ngine was offered on Auburn models in 135 and 1936. They were available for all body styles. The Auburn Automobile Company offered the option of supercharged engines to the Cord automobile in 1937.

This year’s festival will feature a wide array of activities centered around historic downtown Auburn and the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum on the south side of town.

This year’s events include:

Sunday, August 27

  • Annual Garage Cruise – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    • Visit garages and shops of local automotive enthusiasts and business owners. Tickets and location address available at the National Auto & Truck Museum, 1000 Gordon Buehrig Place, Auburn.

Tuesday, August 29

  • Annual ACD Festival Hoosier Tour – 8:30 a.m.
    • The tour leaves from the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum for a two-day trip around the state.

Wednesday, August 30

  • 16th Annual Auburn Auction (Preview) – 9 a.m.
    • Get the first look at this years featured automobiles to be auctioned off at the Worldwide Auctioneers Headquarters, 5634 Opportunity Blvd., Auburn.
  • Destination Auburn Car Corral, Automotive Swap Meet and Lifestyle Vendors – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Worldwide Auctioneers Headquarters, 5634 Opportunity Blvd., Auburn

Thursday, August 31

  • Fall Swap Meet – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Featuring a wide variety of automotive parts, tools and automobilia galore, at the Ford V-8 Foundation Museum, 2181 Rotunda Drive, Auburn
  • 16th Annual Auburn Auction, Day 1 – 11 a.m.
    • Doors open at 9 a.m. at the Worldwide Auctioneers Headquarters, 5634 Opportunity Blvd., Auburn
  • Destination Auburn Car Corral, Automotive Swap Meet and Lifestyle Vendors – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Worldwide Auctioneers Headquarters, 5634 Opportunity Blvd., Auburn
  • Kick-off Luncheon and Celebration
    • Welcome this year’s Hoosier Tour participants back to town – 12 p.m.
    • ACD Automobile Museum
  • The 9th Street Experience – evening
    • The ACD Club will have their automobiles parked along 9th Street in front of the Auburn Hotel. Cars will be on display throughout the festival.
  • Auburn Cord Duesenberg Factory Meet and Greet – 6-11 p.m.
    • All are welcome to enjoy vintage, second-generation and special-interest cars while reconnecting with old friends, at the Auburn Moose Family Center, 10th and Main Street, Auburn.
  • ACD Automobile Museum Annual Benefit & Celebration – 6-10 p.m.

Friday, September 1

  • Pancake and Sausage Breakfast – 7-10 a.m.
    • National Auto and Truck Museum north parking lot
  • ACD Club Swap Meet – 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.
    • Auburn Skate Park parking lot near Eckhart Park
    • Fall Swap Meet – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
      • Featuring a wide variety of automotive parts, tools and automobilia galore, at the Ford V-8 Foundation Museum, 2181 Rotunda Drive, Auburn
    • 16th Annual Auburn Auction, Day 2 – 11 a.m. 
      • Doors open at 9 a.m. at the Worldwide Auctioneers Headquarters, 5634 Opportunity Blvd., Auburn
    • Destination Auburn Car Corral, Automotive Swap Meet and Lifestyle Vendors – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • HAM Radio Special Event Station – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    • Using their amateur radio stations, NIARA members will be making contacts throughout the United States and internationally.
  • Downtown Cruise-in – 10 a.m. to evening
    • Vehicle registration begins at 10 a.m., cars will be on display around downtown throughout the day.
    • Cruise-in Cuisine – various food truck and food vendors will fill 7th Street between Jackson and Main streets.
    • Cruise-in Concert – Sunglasses at Night and the Hubie Ashcraft Band will rock the downtown stage from 6-11 p.m.
  • Speakeasy 2023 – 12 p.m.
    • Come enjoy food, spirits and a place to relax at the Auburn Moose Family Center, located at the corner of 10th and Main Street.
  • The 9th Street Experience – evening
    • The ACD Club will have their automobiles parked along 9th Street in front of the Auburn Hotel.
  • New! Panel JAM Auto Art Show – 12 p.m.
    • Watch the local pinstriping group, Hoosier Slingers, as they use decorative line art techniques while live pinstriping vehicle panels, parts and pieces at the Courthouse square event tent.
  • Sundaes on Friday Ice Cream Social – 5:30-7:30 p.m.
    • 1st Source Bank is sponsoring the annual ice cream social at the corner of 7th and Main streets. Ice cream is $2 a scoop.
  • Night at the Museum Dinner – 5:30-8 p.m.
    • Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, 1600 Wayne Street. Tickets $50 for adults, $20 for children.

Saturday, September 2

  • Annual ACD Club Car Show – 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    • Come see over 300 classics before the parade. Food is available in the park with activities for children from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Eckhart Park. Admission $5 adults, $3 children.
    • Fall Swap Meet – 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
      • Featuring a wide variety of automotive parts, tools and automobilia galore, at the Ford V-8 Foundation Museum, 2181 Rotunda Drive, Auburn
    • 16th Annual Auburn Auction, Day 3 – 11 a.m.
      • Doors open at 9 a.m. at the Worldwide Auctioneers Headquarters, 5634 Opportunity Blvd., Auburn
    • Destination Auburn Car Corral, Automotive Swap Meet and Lifestyle Vendors – 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Pre-Parade Entertainment – 11 a.m.
    • Auburn Community Band will perform on the Courthouse Square
  • Cruise-In Cuisine – 12 p.m.
    • A variety of food trucks and vendors will be located on 7th Street between Jackson and Main streets.
  • Parade of Classics – 1 p.m.
    • The annual parade will wind its way from Eckhart Park through downtown Auburn.
  • Ticket to Ride – 4-5:30 p.m.
    • Experience a free ride in some of the coolest cars around, 7th Street around James Cultural Plaza.
  • Fast & Fabulous – 5-7 p.m.
    • Sweet Cars and the Fort Wayne Driving Club will have their cars on display around the Courthouse Square.
    • Fast and Fabulous Concert – 6-11 p.m.
      • Live music from Reload and RekT
  • ACD Club BBQ at Rieke Park – 6-8 p.m.
    • Have dinner with the ACD Club members. Cost $40 for adults and $20 for children.
  • The Gatsby Gala Ball – 7-11 p.m.
    • Dance the night away at the ACD Automobile Museum. Tickets $35 for individuals and $65 for a couple.

Sunday, September 3

  • New! Aero & Wing Car Invitational – 12-3 p.m.
    • A NATMUS’ Legends of NASCAR event, this invitational will include Aero and Wing cars from regional enthusiasts. The cars will follow a similar route as the Parade of Classics. After the parade the cars will be on display around the Courthouse Square.
