AUBURN, Ind. — Auburn Mayor David E. Clark Jr., joined representatives from Auburn Main Street, American Legion Post 97 and FCI Construction for the official groundbreaking for the DeKalb County Veterans Memorial Project.

Once completed the new memorial will be located at 398 E. 9th Street in the Riverfront District. This will serve as a lasting tribute to the brave men and women who have served our country.

The project was made possible after Junior Auburn Main Street and Auburn Main Street secured a $50,000 matching grant from the Indiana Housing Community Development Authority and Patronicity.

The memorial will feature a memorial marker dedicated to each of the branches of service, which will include the names of those DeKalb County residents who have served our country. The memorial will also include an American flag in the center with benches and lighting.

Construction of the memorial will begin in 2025.
